History

The company initially established as Wamco in 1968 was the North American provider of Oshino sub-miniature lamps. Cevians was created from a management buyout in 2015 when founders Claude Gaudette and Eric Lemay acquired the assets of Wamco’s optical products and displays business units. Since its debut, the company has grown into a trusted and leading provider of optical products and display solutions to the global defense, aerospace, automotive, and medical markets.

  • Owning the Night

In the 1980s, Cevians became the leader in the development of night vision materials, inventing its own formulations and components in supporting the US government to redefine the human battlescape forever. Conflicts would no longer sleep and night missions would dominate military strategy. “Owning the night” became a major pivotal point in military history.

  • A Culture of Innovation

The company’s first successful breakthrough in NVIS bred a strong culture of innovation that continues to govern our day-to-day operations. Following our contribution to the development of military specification MIL-L-85762, Cevians’ effort with the US Navy has driven the entire industry benchmark for decades.

  • In 1982 Cevians created the "Owning the night" technology, night-vision compatible cockpits.

Cevians led one of the most historical pivots in military history. With the breakthrough of night-vision goggles, military operations became a round-the-clock reality no longer limited by our inability to see in the dark. In 1984, following mission experience in the Falklands war between Argentina and the United Kingdom, we developed the first filtering component for incandescent lamps to enable full night vision compatibility with existing military aircraft, giving pilots true wings to dominate the night sky
