Summary:
The Supply Chain Manager supports manufacturing and business objectives by leading procurement staff; identifying, evaluating, and developing strategic vendors across diverse technologies (machined aluminum, silicone membrane, keypad membranes, circuit card assemblies, AMLCDs, functional films); negotiating pricing and terms; and ensuring material procurement processes are effective, efficient, and aligned with organizational goals. This role optimizes manufacturing process flow, manages vendor performance, and drives continuous improvement in cost, quality, and delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, develop, and manage strategic vendors in core technology categories including machined aluminum, silicone membrane, AMLCDs, keypad membranes, circuit card assemblies, and functional films.
- Negotiate prices and terms of purchase with vendors, establish and maintain long-term agreements, and ensure competitive product pricing.
- Lead the procurement team by recruiting, training, coaching, and developing staff; foster a safe and high-performing work environment.
- Directly participate in all New Product Introduction (NPI) procurement activities, including coordinating vendor responses, managing rapid prototypes, and resolving technical and quality issues.
- Monitor vendor performance, conduct site visits, and ensure compliance with vendor certification standards and quality control plans.
- Collaborate with quality engineering and engineering teams to drive corrective and preventative actions and ensure process improvements are completed.
- Maintain optimum inventory levels and reorder quantities to support production schedules while minimizing costs.
- Develop and update packaging standards and manuals; identify and implement cost-saving packaging solutions.
- Develop and optimize shipping logistics and costs between Cevians’ operating sites in Canada, USA and Mexico and Cevians’ vendor worldwide
- Collect, analyze, and summarize supply chain and manufacturing data; prepare reports on cost, quality, and performance trends.
- Conduct process flow audits, analyze and improve process flow metrics (quantity, quality, time, cost), and implement new models or software enhancements.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and contribute to organizational success by taking ownership of new initiatives and opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Engineering, or related field (preferred)
- 5+ years’ experience in supply chain, procurement, or manufacturing environment
- Experience with vendor sourcing, negotiation, and contract management in a manufacturing setting
- Familiar with quality systems such as AS9100D, ISO9001 or ISO 13485
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Proven track record of process improvement and cost reduction
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, knowledge of Spanish and/or Mandarin a definite asset
- Experience with MRP systems
