Summary:
The Quality Engineering Manager will support Cevians 3 operating sites quality engineers. Will review responses to internal and external customer complaints and lead root cause analysis and corrective actions as required. Will define and ensure deployment and compliance to policies and procedures related to quality engineering. The Quality Engineering Manager will ensure quality control plan, detailed inspection plans, acceptance test plans, design validation and qualification test plans meet customer and contractual obligations. Will hire, train and manage quality engineers in Mexico and Canada including objective setting and priority definition. Establishes new test and inspection strategies. The Quality Engineering Manager is also responsible for reviewing and audit qualification/verification tests either internally or to coordinate activities with outside laboratories. The Quality Engineering Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with outside failure analysis laboratories. Liaison with the certification authorities is also part of the quality engineer’s mandate as required by certain programs. The position also requires technical and quality related discussions with customers and vendors’ quality assurance representatives.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate quality engineering activities within Cevians three sites
- Ensuring quality engineering deliverables are completed in time and comply to requirements
- Assist in MRB board and provide quality engineering leadership
- Review and complete CAPA timely, providing effective corrective and preventative actions
- Provide quality engineering support for all new product introduction (NPI), identifying risks and developing quality deliverables, quality control plan, detailed inspection plan, ATP, DVT, QTP
- Prepare or review quality reports before delivery to customers
- Coordinate quality engineering analysis, performing Gauge R&R
- Provide continuous leadership, training and coaching to direct report and across the organization
- Interpret and make quality decisions after review detailed requirements
- Support supply chain in performing quality review of vendors, reviewing vendor quality control plan, vendor quality performance, review vendor CAPA and assisting in audits
Qualifications:
Skills, education, and experience requirements:
- You must have five years of on-the-job experience as a Quality Engineer.
- A minimum of three years in a decision-making position related to the authority to define, execute, or control projects/processes and to be responsible for the outcome is a plus.
- A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical or computer engineering
- Experience and excellent understanding of mechanical drawings, electrical drawings, software code and their respective inspection/verification techniques.
- Knowledge of military specifications and aerospace lighting specifications and Qualification testing, DO-160, MIL-TSD-810 and MIL-STD-461
- Knowledge of aerospace development standards DO-178 and DO-254 an asset
- Awareness of ARP-4754 and ARP-4761 is desirable
- Experience with certification authorities is a plus
- Good understanding of AS9100 or ISO9000 Quality Standard.
- Knowledge of Statistical techniques, PFEMA, DOE, SPC, Six Sigma and continuous improvement tools.
- Effective written/verbal communication skills, knowledge of Spanish an asset
- Must have US Person status for this position
